Critics Consensus

Cars offers visual treats that more than compensate for its somewhat thinly written story, adding up to a satisfying diversion for younger viewers.

Cars is Pixar's most improbable success to date, a film that could easily have misfired, but somehow does not. Go to Full Review

Judged against previous form, this is not Pixar firing on all cylinders, lacking the sophisticated comedy we've come to expect. Judged against fare from other studios, however, it's a triumph. Go to Full Review

Cars remains a weird, almost unimaginable turn of events for Pixar, even 20 years later; but it also remains my favorite of the bunch and, in the eyes of many, a crucial part of the company’s historic early run. Go to Full Review

This is a very good piece of animation, but given the source, it’s not unreasonable to expect better. Go to Full Review

No pun intended, but Cars is a prominent example of a middle-of-the-road animated feature. Go to Full Review

Daniel Pimienta 09/18/2022 Watched it with friends who also grew up with Cars. Great time. See more Drewpiter T. @RT06299656 1d This movie was such an important part of my childhood. It has themes of responsibility and found family along with generosity. I love this movie so much, it feels a bit too short and the plot feels kind of old, but for a movie like this it is perfect. See more Omari T @RT43549866 2d I believe that Cars is a movie that receives exessive criticism. The movie predominantly goes over McQueen's journey to becoming a more empathetic, humble, and less self catering. although many people claim that he is too unlikeable in the beginning of the movie;he is never demonic nor does he wish others to stroke apon bad luck, McQueen simply cares excessively over seceding. One of the key themes presented in this film is the death of smail town america; for decades, we as a society have cared significantly about living in the dense, expansive, and fast paceded city. Over the decades, smail towns similar to radiator springs have declined or are completely abandoned; Cars places a spotlight on this particular issue. The movie is also a warning to slow down the past of life, not nearly enough of ous take the time to slow down and discover our ture glory outside of our jobs, for we are human and all possess a unique spark that shall bring wounders to this world. I would recommend Cars! See more Theo J @RT44151379 Jun 5 Cars is a good movie. The story is wonderful and the characters are goofy and silly. Very funny and fun movie to watch. I grew up watching these movies, and Cars was actually the first movie I ever saw in theaters, so it has always been special to me. It’s one of those films I would recommend to anyone, no matter their age. It’s fun, nostalgic, and still holds up after all these years See more Jaidan B. @RT79791577 May 28 CHILDHOOD NOSTALGIA!
